So many conflicting information (when to apply for ILR)

Hi guys
I have searched through the posts but keep finding conflicting information. For 6 years DLR do you start counting the 6 years from the first date of initial grant or when your last brp expires? E.g. My family were granted dlr in April 2011 to May 2014 and extension from may 2014 to July 2017. Should we send application by April 2017 or by July 2017? ( the brp visa expires July 2017) so will April 2017 be too soon even though it is the date of initial grant. Also if we apply through PSC can we apply 28 days before or does it have to be 6 years on the day?

Thanks.

You count from the date of the first grant of DLR. You need 6 years to qualify for ILR.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Does that mean we do not have to wait till July 2017? We can apply in April 2027 instead? Even though the expiry date on biometric is july 2017?
