DLR to ILR

Good Day everybody.

I appreciate the help being rendered to applicants here.

I am nearing the end of my DLR. First tranche of 3 years was issued in April 2011 and second tranche of another 3 years in May 2014. 6 years will be completed in April.

I am married to a British woman for ten years now. We have two Children. 8 and 5.

I have professional Qualification, studying for a degree part time and working part time (permanently). My wife works full time.

I understand that I need to use the SET(O) form but;

1) Do I need the Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK Test?

2) Do I need to wait till April or May before I apply for my ILR?

3) In Section 6.2. The word 'absence' seem to confuse me. Does this mean travelling out of the country even at the shortest time for holiday with family or going to live outside the UK within a certain period of time?

4) I have two county court judgements with regards unpaid debt which I will definitely declare. Will they count?

I will really appreciate your response if you can.

Thanks again for the good works.

1) Do I need the Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK Test?
No. But you will need both if you want to apply for British citizenship.
2) Do I need to wait till April or May before I apply for my ILR?
You can apply no sooner than 28 days before reaching 6 years.
3) In Section 6.2. The word 'absence' seem to confuse me. Does this mean travelling out of the country even at the shortest time for holiday with family or going to live outside the UK within a certain period of time?
ALL absences. You do not count the day of departure and the day of arriving back in the UK.
4) I have two county court judgements with regards unpaid debt which I will definitely declare. Will they count?
Declare them. Presumably you are paying off the debt :?:
