No way out of this unfortunately. New ILR BRP card comes by DX courier 7-10 days (sometimes longer) after PSC appointment.

thanks cr001..he is travelling to Switzerland and already has Schenghen visa..while he may go there without problem, I think there will be issues when he returns to UK (after a week) as he will be landing without a bio metric card but with ILR approved letter.
will this be ok ? any case mods are aware of ? or any1 ? basically landing in the UK without bio card but with valid leave...surely, the immigration officer would be able to check it in their system ?
also, will departing officiers in Switzerland check if he has valid Bio card to the UK before boarding..I take this may be a bigger issue as Swiss officers will not have access to UK HO Database..
this is a very unique case and I am very intrigued....but it is painful for my friend who is at the PEO.
any help much appreciated..
I will be updating as I hear from him for any curious ppl like myself...
thanks

The letter he will get if his ILR is successful does not state 'ILR approved', it merely states a BRP will be sent within xy days, as far as I am aware and based on my own experience.
If he does not have proof of a visa or right to enter the UK, highly likely that the airline will not allow him to board as they face substantial fines.
Not sure why you think your 'friends' case is unique, 100's go through this this process, with or without urgent need.
Maybe your friend should have just waited till after his trip to apply for ILR, but then again, had he 'found the time' to register and post his own questions, the responses and questions asked of him might have been different in order for him to make an informed decision.

what I meant unique was " having the urgent need to travel abroad without BRP and but valid leave"..to my knowledge that is unique case..also the fact that OP was at the PSC at the time of the post.
came across this link about SINGLE JOURNEY VISA
https://portal.uea.ac.uk/documents/6207 ... a33039af53
may be this is applicable ? BTW, ILR had been approved...

No, his is not unique, many people have the same issue but arrange for partners to sign for BRP and courier to them.
The link you provided is only if a BRP is lost or stolen overseas. How can he lose something he hasn't even received??

ok cool...so, I will sign and courier the BRP to switzerland...
no issues going to Swiss right ? without UK BRP? as long as passport and Schenghen visa is there ?
thanks

BRP will be delivered to your friend's home address by courier and they ask for proof of identity as far as I am aware (I always had to provide it).
You are of course assuming you will have the BRP with a couple of days. Remember Monday is a bank holiday.

But why the OP is so confident that his friend will get the ILR same day? Especially when he is on Entrepreneur Visa, So many cases are there on the forum where the Applicant have not received the decision same day.
Any trick ??? will love to know

The user has already posted that apparently ILR was approved. His friend applied for ILR based on Long residence and NOT tier 1 ent.

thanks for the answers and confirming BRP can be collected on behalf of some on else.
we are aware of heads up (thank though), but the Tier 1 Ent. BRP arrived after two days, so we are banking on it..friend has be in Swiss until BRP is posted though which is fine with him..
but no issues posting BRP across borders ? I know there are some issues for Passport right ?

just an update. OP is in Swiss now and due to fly back home today and gonna try boarding to UK, without BRP and with just the ILR letter.
most likely he will be denied., but in case he is not, he will definitely be questioned in UK.
just want to prepare for this, any one who has gone though tell me what are the likely questions are pls ?
thanks

As advised before, it is VERY VERY unlikely that he will be able to board a flight without a BRP as an airline will end up paying a huge penalty otherwise. However If he manages to arrive, he will be finger printed at the border and his data will be checked against the HO database. Then he will be possibly allowed in, a decision which remains at the discretion of the IOs at the airport.

thanks for reply. Is this info from your experience ? or could you quote the source ?
If he is eventually denied. where he will be sent to ? detention ? in this case, is it safe for him to attempt boarding after he receives the BRP (once we send it to Swiss).
flight is in couple of hours, appreciate quick response.
thanks

UPDATE:
passed throug Swiss Immigration without problem, but stoped at the gates as expected (Stupid being super vigilant) and was adviced if came with enough time to carry out further checks (without delaying the flight), it could still possible to board the plan without Bio.
not sure what the basis of that advice was ? Swiss has access to UK HO DB ?
wondering if it worth trying again with ample time as the OP like to come to UK for business purposes ASAP.
(the BIo Card has not arrived, ILR approvd last Friday , when can we expect it to arrive pls?)
thanks

It can take 7-10 days, sometimes longer and there has been a bank holiday weekend too. Where is the card being delivered and who is signing for it with proof of identity??
