Hi there,

I got a question for all the gurus on the forum. Researching online I found out that the 28 days grace period was enter on 2012 and then abolished on Nov 2016 with the new rules. My question is the following, if someone overstayed before 2012 when the 28 days grace period was added will he still be entitle to it? Say I overstay on 2010 and made out of time application of 2 days after my visa expired, will my continuous residence be broken because it was before 2012 when the 28 days grace period was established? I'm asking for a friend who realized he did overstay before 2012 for a couple of days and made an out of time application which was successful but wanted to know if that broke his continuous residence.

I found the answer already. The 28 days grace period will be valid for any application BEFORE NOV 2016 and therefore will include any applications done before 2012 when it was implemented. Topic can be closed.
