Tier 2 dependent to ILR

All,

Apologies if I am in the wrong section, I have read through a lot of threads and just confused on 1 last thing.

I have recently had an ILR application approved on a 5 year tier 2 general route using Set(O) form.
My question is regarding my wifes visa status
She has been in the country since Sept 2014, with her current tier 2 dependent visa set to expire in sept 2018.

As per my understanding I can extend her tier 2 in sept 2018 for one more year so that she can finish her 5 years and then she can apply for her ILR.

Can anyone please clarify if the above is correct because someone confused me saying that because my tier 2 is finished I will have to change my wife's visa status.

I understand that would mean doing a settlement application for her straight away but that would reset her 5 year counter which I don't want to do.

Can someone please clarify if I am ok to extend her tier 2 dependent for a year next year, I don't want to get to next year and find I had to do a settlement application for her the year before meaning this year.

Thank you in advance.

You are correct that she can extend her pbs dependent visa.
It will be extended for 3 years, as thats the standard. IHS will be payable for 3 years.
After a year, once she completes her 5 years on dependent visa, she can apply ilr.
