HI,
Our family got IRL status in 2012 October and for me and for my wife got BIO metrics cards validity for 10years and for kids 5 years which are going to expire in this year. Kids are here in UK this 5years and doing their schooling.
could you let me know the procedure to renew their Biometric cards and the required support documents and time to process the application. Is it Ok if I apply for extension before one month of expiry date.
Thanks,
Kishore.

An ILR status will not expire so there is no such a thing as renewal or extension. A BRP card on the other hand has a fixed expiry date which means you simply need to replace it when such expiry date is approaching.

Thanks for the reply.

could you clarify on the required documentation as well. Below documents have been asked for the proof of Identity. But for Kids we cann't provide except letter from GP. is this required? If any one replaced BRP (ILR) could you let me know the required documents for uder 16year application.

thanks,

Below is the snipped from application form. under Section 6.

Proof of your identity by supplying any number of the documents identified below which confirm
your name and address. Please indicate the items you are sending by ticking the boxes

Send the documents you have. You all will be asked to enrol your Biometrics again anyway

I advise against it. At one time the modernised guidance said that unexpired BRPs should be destroyed and replaced by new ones with the same date as before! Being about to expire is not a valid reason for replacing a BRP, and therefore a premature application to replace is be refused (Biometric Information: Case Working V4.0 p.40, linked to from Biometric information). I presume this is to stop someone replacing a BRP in the UK that would otherwise expire while they were abroad.

Well, 'any number' includes zero. I'm assuming you will be submitting a letter or report from the school as evidence of presence in the UK, and naming you as a parent or guardian. You could try submitting a letter showing your name and address. On the balance of probabilities, one would have to assume that your children lived with you unless something to the contrary was known.
