Hi

I live in a 2 bed flat with my boyfriend, my daughter (18 years old) and our 5 month old baby. Recently, the family of my boyfriend offered for all of us to stay in their house free of rent to help us save money. My daughter and I will be applying for ILR next year, I am just thinking

- if we live at his parents house, would it complicate our application? Even if we have our own rooms?

- or should we stay in our rented flat until we apply for ILR

- if we can stay at his parents house, what sort of documents I can submit to UKBA to prove accomodation for me and my daughter

Our visas are not dependent to my boyfriend or whatsoever. I came to UK thru work. Please help. Thanks

Hi,

But in Section 5.1 and 5.2 of Set O Form, they will ask you about your home.
I do not know the implication of this but think about it before taking that step.

Cheers

Asking about your 'home and finances' in the form is not the same as evidence is it

Submit what is asked for.

On section 5, it does ask whether we own rent etc. Would it have a negative impact if i put that we stay in the house of my boyfriend’s family? Would it seem that I could not afford to rent a place for us especially that i have to prove support for my daughter? I’m confused

If you are staying with the boyfriends family, would it be possible for them to draw up a tenancy agreement and a covering letter just explaining that they have let you stay in the family home and they aren't charging you.

The tenancy agreement would be an agreement between you and her boyfriends family (mostly owner) and it just means it is more concrete, it would also help if you had to change address with the council as that is the first thing they will ask is a tenancy agreement.

This way you can tick the rent part and provide the covering letter.

You don't need a tenancy agreement. A letter will be sufficient plus a utility bill or council tax statement if you are staying with boyfriend family.

I will look at my options. We are planning to move in few months, thats why I just wanna make sure that I am making the right decision. I dont want to risk our ILR application. But i dont think free housing provided by friend/relative is not allowed as long as we are not using public funds. Thank u all for the advice
