Dear Sir/Madam,

I have Indefinite Leave to Remain in my Indian Passport since 2001. I am in India since August 2017. I would like to know how long I can stay in India. According to UK Home Office website I can stay up to 2 years.

But someone told me if I will stay nearly less than 2 years in India then I can't visit India again for 3 years. Please guide me about this. Nonsense! You shouldn't stay outside of the UK for longer than 2 years and there is no '3 year' rule about re-visiting India. Bear in mind that short visits back to the UK won't break the continuity of the 2 year absence.


Please note last time I visited India in 2007.

So this means if I stay 18 months in India and go back to UK for 1-2 months and then come back again in India for another year. is that fine? It's risky. As I mentioned previously, short visits back to the UK won't break the 2 year absence. You need to show that you are settled in the UK.

My mother is not well and no one is here to look after her in India. that's why I have to stay longer here. Just want to confirm about my ILR.

I don't know what to do. am very confused.

What about if I stay till August in India. (that will be one year). then how long I have to stay in UK so I can visit India again.

My Father died in 2015 and brother died in 2017. no one here left here now to look after my mom. I don't want to loose my ILR as well.

Another question is I don't have any address in UK at the moment to write on a landing card. I can stay few days at my ex-wife as I have a daughter with her. or another option is I can rent a room from here via internet. also need to find a employment.

Please advise.
