I received my Permanent Residence card today and it is only valid until 31st Dec 2024. Thats not even 7 years. Im a little confused? Can someone please explain how that works?

It's normal.

2024 is the year the EU has stipulated that all EU biometric documents must be updated with enhanced security features, passports and BRP cards.

Ah i see. Thank you so much for that. I got worried that maybe i didnt get fully accepted.

Only the card needs renewing not your status.

Obviously irrelevant if you apply for British citizenship.

it's normal. but the bad side is if you want to get your new card back much sooner when you renew it, you have to choose premium service which will cost ￡600. postal application for renew the card is as slow as ILR application, which is awful.
