When is it too late to apply for indefinite leave to remain?

Hello There,
I've been living in the UK for the last 5 years (fmlr visas) and my visa expires on August 5th. I know that I have left this all at the last minute (due to many reasons and not sure if I wanted to stay). Now that the deadline is approaching I am freaking out. When is it too late to apply for indefinite leave to remain? Can I still apply before August 5th? And via post? Also, if I have to go back home can I somehow apply to come back to the UK on a marriage visa or visa of some kind in case I need to return?

Sorry for all of the questions but I appreciate any help.

Thank you.

You must apply by the visa expiry date. For postal application the application date is the day of posting. Send by recorded or Registered post, and keep the receipt.

Do you meet the English language requirement of B1 level English + The Life in the UK test :?:

1-If you want to apply at PSC appointment same day , you still can get PSC appointment date before expiry of your existing LTR but you have to be very flexible in regard to any PSC centre locations and application date in UK to look for PSC appointment but It will be very difficult to find PSC appointment and after booking your PSC Appointment you can take with you Paper form filled in .

2- You can also apply online by completing full SET(M) form and then submit online application even if you have couple of days left to expire your existing LTR because Date of application is considered when you submit your online application and application must be submitted before expiry of LTR, after that you can either apply by post or book PSC appointment.
