Hi there,

It would be great if you could share your knowledge about ILR processes-

I got my ILR recently and now need to apply for my dependents. I have few queries -

1. Their visa is valid until mid of next year- do they need to apply now as my Tier 2 is no longer exists?
2. My child is here in UK as my dependent for 8/9 years now who born outside of UK - as I got my ILR can he apply for a passport directly instead of going for ILR route? If ILR - does he need to pass Life in UK test and English test?
3. For processing the dependents application which application form and if possible list of supporting document list as well?
4 For a UK born child what are the steps to follow in order to get a UK passport?
Thanks in advance.

1. They can apply at any time before their visa expires if they meet the requirements for ILR.

2. No you cannot. The child is NOT British (only a British citizen can apply for a passport). The child will follow the same route as your spouse and require ILR first. If the child is under 18, then no they DO NOT require English test or LIUK. If they are 18 or over, then yes they need both.

3. Set(O). Read the guidance notes. The online form will also tell you what you need.

4. Apply to register the child as British on form MN1. Cost is £1,033. Please ask your British citizenship questions in the British citizenship sub forum as it is not relevant to the ILR sub forum.
