I received a call from a Sheffield number starting 0114, but when I called back on it, it said that the number is not recognised, so I guess it was a hidden number.
Just wondering if this could be HO? I think they usually call from a hidden number though some people did report receiving calls from even a mobile number.

I got similar call, I checked online and it says scammers call from that number. Check on Google you might get some info.

Also it is a bit late for ho to call now?

I checked Google but there was no info on that number at all.
The call was at 5:30 pm.

I did think it was weird to receive a call from HO at that time on a Friday evening, but then I'm quite nervous because I don't know anyone in Sheffield and have no other reason to get a call from there.

If it’s a genuine call they will leave a voicemail or follow up by letter. Don’t overthink it.

The problem is that I answered it but by that time the person at the other end put the phone down, so no voicemail.
And they didn't call back either. So strange.

Likely to be a marketing/automated call

Please wait to hear from HO. No one can say who called you and everyone would simply be posting guesses.
