Hello
I am on Tier 2 General Visa which is valid for 5 years. I understand that ILR can be applied after 5 years.
So, I need to get my employer to extend my Tier 2 General Visa after 5 years. Is it correct to say that the Tier 2 general visa can be extended only for a year ?
During this extension period, I need to apply for ILR. Am I correct ?
Thanks and Regards
Pranam

When was your Tier 2 visa issued? you could just apply for ILR at the end of it?

Hello
I entered UK i
n Sept 2016. My Tier2 general visa is valid till Aug 2021.
I plan to extend the Tier 2 general visa. What is the earliest date to extend the tier 2 general visa ?
I read in the immigraton site ''You can apply to extend your visa for up to another 5 years, as long as your total stay is not more than 6 years". Can someone explain what this means ?
I want to apply for ILR after 5 years. I guess I need to extend the tier 2 general visa and then within the 1 year period apply for ILR. Am I correct ?
Regards
Pranam

Still cant tell your visa issue date but even if it was September 2016, you can apply in August 2021 (28 days before your qualifying 5 year period)
So no need to extend your Tier 2.

Thanks for the reply. My visa was issued on 15/08/2016 and is valid till 14/08/2021. I entered UK with my family on 02/09/2016.
So, I can apply for ILR in August 2021 ?

You can apply within 28 days before 15th August 2021, as the rules stand now (and they make changes often so you will need to check nearer the time).
