How are you doing guys? I am looking into ILR - SET(LR). I initially came into UK in 2008 as a student. I applied for an extension of my student visa on 27 october 2010 (Visa was about to expire on 30 October 2010) in time. On 21 December 2010, my application and all the documents are returned as invalid saying the bank rejected the payment. I again applied with in 28 days of my invalid response and visa was granted in Feb 2011. My sponsor was the same institution which is a university. My query is that will it impact my section 3c because of the invalid application.

As your application was returned as invalid, your lawful residence ended on the last day of your visa (30 October 2010). You never had section 3C protection at all. So you had no valid leave between Oct 2010 and Feb 2011 which is a break in the continuous residence. The 28 days rule was only introduced in 2012 and is not relevant to your situation anyway.
