ILR application (Long term), Should partner change visa too?

Hello,

I plan on applying for my ILR based on Long Residence. I am currently on Tier 2 General and my wife and son (born in the UK) are on Tier 2 Dependent PBS visas.

All our visas are valid until 02/2021.

If I alone apply for ILR on Long residence basis without any dependents included, will my wife & son's visas get void?

Or can they continue on their PBS dependent visas until expiry (02/2021) and then switch to an ILR dependent visa?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Sam

1. Once you have ILR, you can register your son as British on form MN1.

2. They can stay on their visas provided they have no travel plans out of the UK. However, the sooner your spouse switches to FLR(M), the sooner her clock for ILR based on 5 years residence will start.
