Tier 2 applying ILR living with a friend

Hi everyone,

I have questions bothering me about immigration that I think of it every hour. Wonder if you can help.

Im currently on tier2 applying for ILR.

I used to rent privately, but my friend offered me to live with him. However, he's in a rented council estate, and I cant be added on the tenancy yet as he is on probation period.

Im not paying any rent, as its an act of goodwill. We just share bills but top up electric and gas. Broadband on my name.

Question: If I live and only share utility bills with him, will that affect my application for ILR.

What sort of document acceptable by the Home Office I could present to prove that I live on that address? .

Am I considered using public funds if I live in the council with him?

Should I just private rent?

Please advise. Thanks for all your help.

1. Is there a requirement to prove your address?

2. Your friend is required to inform the council and get permission for others to live there.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. Just a follow up: Does it mean I can't live In his council flat until he gets out of probation to add me on the tenancy? THANKS.

On application Set (o), would they query if my address is in an estate?

Am I jist over thinking this through?

Thanks.

He needs to address your living arrangements with the counicl. It is not an immigration matter.

Re set O, you are over thinking. It is not an issue provided your are not claiming any public funds.
