Tier 2 extension before ILR application?

Hello,
Both myself (Tier 2 main) and my wife (Tier-2 dependent) have the same 5 years Tier-2 visa (same start date 09/01/14 and end date 08/02/19). I had arrived in the UK right after the start date, i.e. 09/01/14, however, my wife arrived one month after me, i.e., 15/02/14. We are considering to apply ILR, my case should be clear. However, my wife should be qualified to apply ILR by 15/02/19 which means her visa is actually expired for few days.
Should my wife apply Visa extension just for few days, while I (main Tier 2) am in the process to apply ILR? or we can submit ILR together?
