Set(O) Delay

Hi
I am new to this forum as a member but I have been following it for a long time. I have not found what I am looking for so thats y i am posting this question here.
I have applied for ILR on Set(O) form in March. Little bit of history I applied for DLR in 2011 on FLR(O) form. But my decision was made in 2013 on the basis of new rules and I was granted 10 year route as a parent. ON extension my solicitor applied for 5 year route which was accepted and I was granted 5 year route in 2015. Recently after completing 5 years my solicitor applied for ILR as he said it is worth trying as my original application was before rule changed in july 2012. The worse that home office will do is to grant me another extension for FLR(FP) 2.5 years. Which he can challenge later in court.
SO provided home office with my childrens birth certificates, last 2 years self assesment which is over 18600 for each year. B1 certificate and Life in the UK test along with 6 months bank statements and also statement proving my monthly contribution for my childrens maintenance. Also a letter from my ex partner explaining all this. Even though I have contact order I still did it just as another positive document.
Now it has been over 7 months since my application and I havent heared anything from home office. Is it common in this type of situation for home office to make a decision that long or is it that they are doing further checks on my initial application?
I hope some one know answer to my query.
Thanks
