Hi all,

I'm looking for some guidance and hope someone can assist.

Me and my wife have ILR since 2006 via 4 year full work permit and have been living and working in the UK since.

My wife recently gave birth to my child abroad and we want to bring him back to the UK to live with us.

My question is how do I go about getting his ILR (or in this instance ILE) since he is currently abroad?

There is a form Blimp you can complete if you are in the UK but I can't seem to find one if the child is outside the UK.

It appears (from the UK immigration website) the child needs to apply for a family VISA in the 1st instance and once he has entered the UK, apply for settlement via Blimp?

Is my understanding correct? Is this the way? Or is there a direct method to get a ILE abroad in lieu of family VISA then Blimp route?

My apologies if this has been explained before in previous post (don't think there is one similar to my circumstances)

Thanks

Child Settlement Visa - form VAF4A and Appendix 1.

https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/child

There is no 'Set R' form. Do you mean Set LR?? If yes, this is not applicable to your child.

Your child would have been British if born in the UK.

Also note that your wife should not be absent for long. 2 years or more and ILR is lost.
