How to calculate PBS Dependent ILR Qualifying Period Calculation

Hi Gurus,
I very recently understood that PBS Dependent ILR Qualifying period starts from the visa issue date (valid from) but not the entry date.
In my case, my T2 Gen dependents initial visa issued on 10 Jun 2013 but entered the UK on 8th Mar 2014. That is after 271 days from the visa issue date. As their main applicant, I got my ILR already.
In this situation,
a) when does their 5 year qualification period starts from? (10 Jun 2013 or 8th Mar 2014)
b) Anyone successful in applying for ILR based on Visa Issue date having entered UK after 180+ days?
c) My dependents 'PBS Dependents' extension submitted couple of days ago. I am thinking of varying their application with new ILR application. Is it risky step or good & safe step to take?
