ILR - 5 years on one visa? or 5 years living?

Hi All,
I have lived in the UK since the beginning of 2012. I came in on a different visa to the one I am on now. I am now about to apply for my FLR(M) extension and just wanted to know, do the 5 years for ILR need to be on one visa type or is it just time living in the UK?
As I have not looked into the ILR, would I need proof of living here from the past 5 years?
Thanks for any help

What visa exactly?

For ILR based on spouse visa FLR(M), you need to have 5 years on the specific visa. You cannot combine other visas to make up 5 years.

I came in on an Ancestry visa. Due to things changing I then switched to a fiance visa and then spousal visa

Your 5 years starts from the date your spouse visa was granted. Fiance visa doesn't count for the 5 years either.
