Set 0 'Date you first entered the UK'

Hello,

I have a query as I am confused as to my 'date you first entered'. I understand it needs to be under my Tier 2 visa status and not any previous visas. So I have entered 13/01/14 as my entry date as that's the date I started working and that's the date my previous employer has provided me with a letter confirming my length of employment and absences. However my Tier 2 visa BRP card states issued 31/01/2014. I haven't submitted my application yet, so there is room for change.
My question is which of the two dates should I use in my application and if it is the visa date do I need to get my previous employers letter to reflect start date as the later date?

Thanks

In this regard you use the date your visa is issued on Tier 2 route since you were granted while already in UK.

Which visa did you start working on 13/1/2014? PSW?

I have the same situation, I have been told I should use the date on the LR card, I started work on postdoc visa and I have to wait for 3 months more to apply for my ILR.

I entered the UK in 2011 under Tier 4 (general) student visa which was valid from 07/09/11 until 24/05/14. I started my job on 13/01/2014, but my Tier 2 (General) (BRP) card didn't arrive till later and states issued on 31-01-14. I have only ever worked on Tier 2 General visa.

Hi Bizman,

Would I need to change the date on my previous employer's letter or should I declare that I started working on the 13th January although my visa states 31st Jan.

Thanks

What was the date on the approval letter of Tier 2 visa? That date is relevant. BRPs sometimes are issued on later dates. When did you apply for Tier 2 visa? And when was that approved?

What visa were you using during the this time that you were working there? Also, was the letter meant to be for your Tier 2 application then.

The letter is for my ILR application which states my length of employment and my absences. I was on a Tier 4 visa when I accepted the job offer and subsequently applied for Tier 2 visa. However, I cannot remember when I applied for the visa if that is the date that is required.

You definitely need a letter from your employer and a COS before your application for a tier 2 visa. So I think the date of the letter which preceded your application is in order.

Thanks Bizman,
I don't seem to have a copy of my first CoS so it may be a case of requesting it from my previous employer, hopefully they still have it.
