Hello,
I am applying for NZ visa for work and then ILR of UK. My NZ work start date is a month from when i apply for ILR. My question is will it affect my ILR application in a negative way. I think it does not, not just because these days you do not hand in your passport. However i wish to request clarity from Gurus on this forum.

If you leave the UK before your ILR visa has been approved, your application will be considered withdrawn.

sorry for any misunderstanding. What i meant was if I get my NZ visa of 3 years on my passport in UK embassy and then go for ILR, will it impact ILR application. Secondly, what conditions I should follow to keep my ILR active in case I choose to settle in NZ.

ILR is lost if you are absence for 2 or more years from the UK. Short visits do not necessarily keep the status 'active' and it can be revoked on arrival in the UK if the IO suspects you are not 'settled' here any longer.

I note you are also asking about Australian visa??

Why not simply wait in the UK till you have British citizenship and then move elsewhere. Seems pointless spending so much on ILR if you don't intend to stay.

The answer is no.
In order to be readmitted as returning resident a person must show that they are seeking entry for the purposes of settlement under paragraph 18.

A passenger should be granted entry at the border [as a returning resident] where they:

• can provide evidence they have been granted indefinite leave
• have been outside the UK for less than 2 years
• meet the requirement of paragraph 18 of the Rules

A summer job or owning a house does not meet the paragraph 18 requirements.
Also If your ILR is lost (after two or more years of absence), you must show strong ties and connections here like having children, family, assets, etc to be apply to return with a new ILE visa.
