My wife passed the following english language test from Trinity College London in 2014.

Grade 5
Graded Examination in Spoken English
Entry Lvel Certificarte in ESOL International
(Speaking and Listening) (Entry 3)
B1.1 of CEFR
Certificate issued by: Ealing Hammersmith and West London College (SELT Centre)

She applied for a 2.5 years spouse visa and an extension of another 2.5 years, both were granted on the basis of above english language certificate. She is now due to apply for ILR in September 2019 and I would like to know whether she can still use the same B1 english language certificate or she will require a new english certificate?

The test and test centre both should be on the approved list. Check the above link for details.

The link you provided talks about the test which is on approved list however the test centre is not and home office website is not clear about the test centre.

Can you advise?

Both the test and test centre should be on the approved list. If not, you will have to take a B1 SELT approved test.

Sorry for being pain..
I took the test 5 years ago and my flr m extension was done based on the same test 2.5 years ago with the fact that it was accepted on a previous successful application.
The test is still on the approved list but the doubt is only about the test centre which is not on the approved list.
Are you sure that the test centre has to be on the approved list as well as it does not say anywhere?

Approved English language qualifications

You can prove your knowledge of English by having a recognised English test qualification from an approved test centre.

You need to have a certificate to prove you have the qualification, or be able to view your results online.

You can only use English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) qualifications if they’re on the list. You cannot use other qualifications, for example GCSEs, A levels or National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).

In your case you maybe fine if at least the test is in the list.

Applying to settle in the UK
You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if both of the following are true:

it’s on the current list of recognised tests
it was accepted for another UK immigration application, for example when you got permission to enter

No. I have seen multiple posts where moderators have advised that the test centre must be on the approved list also. £150 VS rejection and loss of £3k fees.

There is a FAQ documents on the same link you shared above and on page two it says.

"Will you accept English language tests that are on the approved list, but not takenat an approved test centre? No. Any tests takenfrom 6 April 2015 mustbe at an approved test centre.The list of approved test centres is available on our website."

My test was taken in 2014 so does that mean approved test centre requirement does not apply to me? thanks

Thats interesting. I did not know it was after April 2015 but wait till someone else confirms. If I was you I would still not risk it. £150 is better than loosing £3k+ and added stress and complications.

Its shouldn't necessarily be in case of applying settlement where only the test must be recognised and must have been used in previous application. Also if the same test is not even on list now when applying for citizenship but was on list before will still be accepted for citizenship purposes. Read the official link below:

True, I am talking about settlement in case only. As far as I know it should be on the approved test centre list also.

I completely understand your point to pay £150 to avoid rejection and stress but for some this £150 means a lot and I am trying to spread the knowledge so that people do not get caught on the designer shop HO and their partners have opened where they charge ridiculous amounts simply because people fear their visa will be rejected.

It would be good for someone else to confirm if they used the same certificate pre April 2015 and granted the visa.

Indefinite leave applications
The English language test must have been taken no more than 2 years before the date of application. However, tests that have been taken more than 2 years ago and have since expired, can still be accepted where the qualification:
• is from one of the providers on the current SELT list
• has previously been accepted by us as part of another immigration application,
such as for entry clearance. A qualification that is not from one of the providers on the current SELT list, is not acceptable even if previously accepted by us as part of another application

This only applies for settlement applications before Nov 2015. Read page 11 previous link.

Agreed, this only applies if someone has taken the test before 19 Nov 2015 and are using for ILR application where the same test was previously accepted on a successful application. The test must still be on the approved list however the test centre does not have to be on the approved list.

Its your choice cant comment further. Not sure which part you dont get.
