Good day,

We have just been informed that my husband, who is the main applicant on our ancestry visa, is/was a British citizen since his dad was born in Britain.

We now face a dilemma of how will I be able obtain my ILR if possible at all, considering he cannot apply for ILR, I noted he is still eligible for his British passport. Which will null and void the ancestry visa, sending me back to South Africa to start on a spousal visa (which will take over a year). We have no one and nothing in South Africa. Desperate for help and advice.

Were his parents married when he was born??

You can of course switch to a spouse visa within the UK, which will reset your ilr clock to zero and a new 2 X 2.5 year visa path. No need to leave the UK.
