180 days per 12 months is only applicable to 5 year route ilr under certain visa categories.

For long residence any absence of 180 days or more at any time in the 10 years breaks your continuity of residence as done absence in the whole 10 years of more than 540 days. There is no splitting the absence into 2 X 12 months periods ability for long residence.

The 180 days rule for long residence is NOT the same as PBS route. Under long residence, your lawful residence is only broken if you had a continuous absence of 180 days or more anywhere in the last 10 years
