When to submit passport

Hi,

I'm about to apply for ILR (via UK Ancestry routine) using the Home Office online system and will not be paying to having the application processed overnight so will need to wait the typical 6 months whilst its being processed. Can you please let me know at what stage you are required to hand in your passport? Is it when you submit the application or after a decision has been made. I don't really wish to be without it for 6 months.

You apply online, then make an appointment at ukcvas for biometrics. Before your appointment, you scan and upload all your supporting documents. Your identity will be verified at the appointment using your passport.

You don't submit any originals anymore.

Standard service is 8 weeks usually.

THanks, so to be clear, you don't need to send in your passport anymore while the application is being processed?

Exit date unknown

Advice needed. I am about to apply for my ILR visa after 6 years on a UK Ancestry visa. I previously held ILR but this was cancelled due to a long absence from the UK. Ive checked through my old passport and it doesn't have a date stamp showing the exact date of when I left the UK back in 2001 (nor can I remember this date!) so I'm unable to provide this information on the ILR application. Any advice on how I can check this information?

Uk doesn’t do exit stamps.
Maybe the country you entered did an entry stamp.
A SAR might help.
