Tier 2( Gen) to ILR after 5 years employment

Hello All,
I'm currently on a Tier2 General Visa until March 2021. But I'm eligible to apply for ILR after Feb 2020 after 5 years of continuous residency/employment.
My query is do I need to be with an employer for a certain amount of period with the required salary threshold or can I join a new employer who offers the required salary threshold and apply directly for an ILR after Feb 2020 without needing to apply for a Tier2 General again.
Many thanks for your help and opinions in advance.
Regards,
AK

You cannot work for another employer on your current visa. You are only permitted to work for your tier 2 sponsor.

If you want to change jobs, you have to apply for a new visa with a new sponsor.

Thanks Char for the quick response.
And is it necessary to be on the new salary threshold for a certain period of time before applying ILR?
Thanks
AK

You need at least 1 months payslip and corresponding bank statement to proof you meet the £35,800 or what your SOC states, whichever is HIGHER.
