ILR visa application with expired passport

Hi,

Can someone advise if I can apply for ILR visa for my dependent with his expired passport. The home country would not issue new passport soon for some reason and we cannot wait more before current BRP expires. Currently my dependent holds Tier2 dependent visa.

You need a valid passport.

Why did you not renew the passport in time??

Why is there a delay for a new passport??
