From Tier4 to refugee - how is duration of residence calculated?

I was on tier 4 visa for 3 years then changed to refugee status straight after for another 4 years. Am I eligible for an ILR?
You need 5 years on refugee leave to remain.
Tier 4 visas don't count for ilr based on 5 years residence.
