Document Request from a Home Office Email id

I applied for my ILR on 23-Apr-2020. I received an email from WandSContingencyCaseworkDocumentReturn@homeoffice.gov.uk on 18-May for all 4 applications saying that they will take more than 8 weeks to process the application due to Covid.
Then on 19-May-2020 I received 4 emails from the same id, asking for documents.
Reasons I think that this is a SCAM are the following:
a) the page https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -and-scams clearly says that valid homeoffice email ids are of the form "firstname.LastName@homeoffice.gov.uk" and this email is not
b) of the 4 applications, one of the emails for my youngest son, even has the wrong application number in the subject
c) For both my sons, the email asks for a bank statement showing £630.00 in funds. This is strange as a 13 year old and a 17 year old cannot have a bank statement
d) When I submitted The original application form on 23-April-2020, it asked for a set of documents and that DID NOT include "bank statement" for the child
e) The emails are signed at the end by one " xxxxxxx@homeoffice.gov.uk" but when I wrote back to that person to please reply back and confirm that "WandSC...." is a valid email id and can I share the documents with them, I got NO RESPONSE
f) Why should they ask for all these documents when we have already uploaded them on the UKVCAS website ? They can just access it from there.
g) Anyway the UKVCAS website is now open for appointments on a controlled basis from 01-June
based on all of the above I feel one must be very very careful while sharing documents with that email id.
