Hello All,
please can anyone advise, I was granted 10 year route as a Parent of British citizen in 2014, I did my first renewal in 2017. However in 2018, I changed to the 5 year parent route, and was given the first 2.5 years on this route. my confusion is can I combine the years I've spent on both 10 year and 5 year parent route and apply for ILR ?
I have heard conflicting information , some say I cant combine the years spent and some said since it is the same "parents route " I am able to combine so far I've spent 5 years on parent route that i should apply for ILR, rather than extending for another 2.5 years again.
pls advise.

Only under 10 years of long residence application provided the route will remain operative by then. In all other cases the time won't be counted/offsetted into another different category.

Thanks for your response, but why i am confused is the fact that i called UKVI and spoke with their advisor who advised parent route is parent route, so far you have spent 5 years on the same route, ive tried checking guidance on this from their website but no luck

These telephone operators are security receptionist with no knowledge of immigration. You can search by yourself several forums about it.

There is no immigration helpline. Those advisors are third parties who often give incorrect advice (leading to many cases of refusals reported by members over the years). Don't rely on telephone conversations nor correspondence with the Home Office.

The details are in the immigration rules.

E-ILRPT.1.3.
(1) The applicant must, at the date of application, have completed a continuous period of either:

(a) at least 60 months in the UK with:
  • (i) leave to enter granted on the basis of entry clearance as a parent granted under paragraph D-ECPT.1.1.; or
  • (ii) limited leave to remain as a parent granted under paragraph D-LTRPT.1.1.; or
  • (iii) a combination of (i) and (ii);
or
(b) at least 120 months in the UK with:
  • (i) leave to enter granted on the basis of entry clearance as a parent granted under paragraph D-ECPT.1.1. or D-ECPT.1.2.;
    or
  • (ii) limited leave to remain as a parent granted under paragraph D-LTRPT.1.1. or D-LTRPT.1.2.; or
  • (iii) a combination of (i) and (ii).
The helpline was partly correct.

(b) You may include the 5-year parent leave under the 10-year parent route.
(a) However, you cannot include the 10-year parent leave under the 5-year parent route.

Yes, the 10-year long residence route may include any continuous lawful categories of leave. Unfortunately, dependants cannot be included under the Long residence route.
