ILR- Long Residence Route

Dear all,

This forum has been very helpful last year, especially during the stressful days of applications delay and IDV App. Thanks to all moderators and members.

Now I am in the process of submitting my ILR - Long residence application and I am writing to seek some advice regarding my application and dependents Visa.

Immigration History:
  • I arrived in the United Kingdom on 10 Apr 2011 Tier 2 ICT Established Staff Visa.
Extended Tier 2 ICT Visa Multiple times within the UK which is valid until Apr 2022.
  • I got a new Job offer in Mar 2020 and switched to Tier 2 General which got finally approved in Nov 2020. Its valid Until Nov 2023
  • My wife came to the UK on Sep 2013 on a PBS dependent Visa and has been living with me ever since. Along with my Tier 2 General application, her Visa got extended until Nov 2023. We had a son in May 2020 and was born in the UK.
I have the following questions:
  • I have read other topics on this forum and understood that i have to switch my Wifes Visa to ILR dependent i.e. FLR(M). After switching to FLR(M) visa, Is she still eligible for ILR (LR) on Sep 2023 as she completes 10 years?
  • I haven't applied for a dependent Visa for my son so far as I can apply for British Citizenship(MN1) directly once my ILR application is successful. Is my understanding correct?
  • For my ILR application, one of the documents I have to submit is "Document(s) showing your child / children's
immigration status such as passports, biometric residence cards, or vignettes". Because my son doesn't have a dependent visa, I wonder what documents I have to submit or do I have to mention about the MN1 application in a Cover letter?
If any of the above doesn't make sense, please let me know.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks
Mahesh

1. Yes. She can apply for long residence as normal in 2023 assuming she is eligible
2. Yes
3. The list is generic and those documents are NOT required at all. SET(LR) has nothing to do with your dependants

So i should still include my dependents details in my ILR application and provide all the available documents from the list?

Hi Zimba, thanks for your reply. Just to be sure I understand it correctly, I shouldn't declare my son in the application at all?
