I have been following this forum for years but this is my first post and question. I came to this country Aug 2011 on student visa and my dependant joined me in Dec 2011. I have been using student visa till date and I recently got my graduate visa which will expire July 2024. I have completed my 10 years with no over stay and both with my dependants. I have spent some time outside with short holiday trips but not over the total 540 days allowed but these are my questions and please I will appreciate your guidance.
1). Can I apply for my ILR now while my dependants are yet to complete their 10 years.
2). Will my dependants be regarded as over stayer when I switch to ILR while they wait till Dec to apply.
3). I have five dependants, my wife and four kids and two of my kids are born outside Uk and two born here in U.K. should I apply for the kids born outside the U.K. with a separate ILR or they qualify to apply as British citizen if I get my ILR. I do not want to waste money applying for them on ILR if they qualify for citizenship on the basis of me getting ILR. One of my kids born outside U.K. is now over 18 and I know she will need to apply independently on 10 years basis but can I register the second child straight as British citizen when me and my wife get our ILR.
4) Finally what are the required documents that I need to supper my 10 years long residence application. I have followed up on other applications but I need your advice on what I should include.

1. Yes. All of you must apply separately for ILR under long residence
2. No. Their current visas will remain valid unless curtailed
3. Kids born outside the UK have no entitlement to British citizenship. They must all get ILR. Only kids born in the UK can apply to register as British citizens using form MN1 after you get ILR, no need for them to hold ILR and so you can save money for them.
4. Only All your Passports in the last 10 years, LIUK pass, proof of English language. That's it

I am not sure about your family members, but you can definitely apply before them, that is not an issue at all. If your kids are under the age of 18, I think they are able to apply as dependents later.

In terms of documents, what you basically need are all the passports you’ve held to come to the UK, BRP, proof of English (probably uni degree would do in your case), life in the UK test, and consent form.
But you can supplement the documents with rental agreements, police register, rental agreements, university certificates etc to show presence in the UK.
Since you don’t have any overstaying, or gaps your application should be very straightforward. But it will cost a lot as you know.

Following up on my previous post. I have started my application and from the list of documents requested. One stated that I should provide Documents supporting my other reasons to stay in the UK. I do not know what document to provide to support this. Please Zimba and any senior member, I will need your advice. If anyone has done this application with similar requests, please offer advice.

That is because you answered YES to a question on the form, claiming that you have other reasons to stay in the UK. If you qualify under the long residence, you do NOT need any other reason. So the answer to that question should be NO but many get confused and think they should answer YES. If you answer YES, then the final list requests that you submit documents supporting your other reasons to stay in the UK.

You do NOT need to provide such documents. I already told you what you need to provide above, Not a big deal just ignore the list
