Payslip net pay vs gross pay

Hi all, I wonder if any one could offer me some advice.

I'm due to apply for ILR in couple of days time. I have just opened my recent payslip and realized my taxcode was changed to higher taxcode because HMRC thinks I have gone into the higher band and they need to take back some money off me which meant I paid just over a £1000 tax for this month.
I am worried my net pay (take home pay ) is significantly reduced compared to previous months. However, the total taxable pay (gross pay) remain thesame based on my annual salary and 37.5 weekly working hours.

Should I be worried about the net pay, or do they look at the total taxable pay (gross pay ) based on my basic wage ? or should I wait till I have an improved net pay after the tax code is rectified?

Thanks

Net pay is irrelevant. Your base salary is used for award of points
