Hey y’all,

I arrived in the uk on a tier 5 visa in 2016 and then switched to tier 2/ skilled worker visa.

My questions are:

1. To grant ILR are checks made from your very first entry into uk or only for the relevant qualifying period

2. What background checks are done during ILR application (no criminal record or anything just curious)

3. Do I need to submit the passport I was on during my tier 5 time? I don’t even have it anymore as it was long expired

I have the passport I used to apply for my tier 2/skilled worker visa!

Will really appreciate any one’s help <3

There will be checks to see if you followed the rules (e.g never worked without permission, have a break in your lawful stay, etc) as well as check on your criminal history to satisfy the criminality threshold for ILR. Only provide passports covering the last 5 years

8) Thanks Zimba, are these checks done only for your qualifying period or from the very first day you entered the UK (prior to the qualifying period)

If there is a longer list of checks done you don’t mind sharing i am happy to hear it!

No one knows what checks UKVI happens to perform. Some checks apply to your qualifying period and some checks look at your entire immigration history

UKVI will conduct whatever checks they deem necessary as long as it is in permitted by the Immigration rules.

As long as you answered the questions on your application form correctly and have nothing to hide in your Immigration history, you should be fine.
