regarding this clause
for a person seeking settlement on the UK Ancestry route, the date of their last grant of permission

I had an ancestry visa for a few years before I entered the UK. now i have renewed it for a further 5 years but have already been here 2 years... so do i only start counting from the date of my 2nd Ancestry visa and lose the first two years that i stayed here on the first one when working out the 5 years?!

many thanks to all that contribute here.

You simply need a cumulative of 5 years residence on an ancestry visa even if this is through multiple ancestry visas.

You start counting from when you entered the UK on your previous ancestry visa.
