Do the most recent documents (bank statements and payslips) have to be dated within 28 days of the application date for ILR SET (M) (5-year route switching from Spouse Visa to ILR)?

Thank you. Apart from the bank statements and payslips, are there any other documents that would need to be dated within 28 days? I'm thinking of the employment confirmation letter, anything else?

Does the employment letter have to be from HR or Payroll, or can my line manager do it? UKVI guidance just says 'senior official'.

Is it necessary to write a covering letter for the ILR SET (M) application? Or just let the application and supporting documents speak for themselves?

If you don't have any matter to further clarify or address beyond the answer on form no need for cover letter if otherwise then you should.

Many thanks for replies re. covering letter.

Can council tax bills and bank statements be used as part of the 6 letters/correspondence as evidence that my partner and I have been living together? I would have thought they were fine to use, however I have heard conflicting information, so just wanted to check.

These are the 6 items of correspondence we were thinking of submitting for the 2.5 years prior to application. Application date was 19 April 2023, so we are looking at the period October 2020 to April 2023.

Bank statement - joint names - 12 November 2020
Bank statement - joint names - 12 April 2021
Bank statement - joint names - 12 October 2021
Water bill - joint names - 18 May 2022
Energy bill - joint names - 16 November 2022
Mortgage transaction summary - joint names - 10 March 2023

Do you think that these are suitably spaced out and from enough different sources?

There is no specific requirement. So as long as it covers the period reasonably it is ok

I just submitted my ILR application and included only May for pay and bank statements, they contacted me asking for April as additional documentation.
I would include that as well as May to avoid delays (like I’m facing)
