decision could come after my biometric date expires

Hello
I've applied for ILR (M): submitted my papers and scanned my fingerprints/photo taken at the site. My biometric expires next month but I've received an email saying that a decision "could take up until February 2024".
Can I still work and live a normal life, even a decision does take that long after my biometrics expire?

What do you mean by "my biometric"? Your BRP (plastic card showing your status in UK)?

If you applied before expiration of your current visa, your conditions are the same as per your previous visa until you receive a decision. So yes (assuming your leave allows work, obviously).

When you apply for a new application before visa expiry, the provisions under section 3C of the immigration act get engaged when your visa expires. This means your current visa and all of its privileges are automatically extended until a decision is made on your pending application. As you are assumed to have a visa, you can continue to live and work lawfully until a decision is made on your application
