I'm planning to apply for the ILR (LR) 10-year route category soon. I've come across some conflicting information regarding the documentation required to prove continuous residence in the UK. According to the guidance on the official government website (https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -in-the-uk), it appears that a passport entry stamp is only considered as evidence for one month. However, discussions on forums suggest that it might cover the entire 10 years. This discrepancy has left me a bit puzzled, and I'm seeking clarity on this matter.

All my passports contain entry and exit stamps. I'm wondering if these are adequate for proving my continuous residency in the UK, or if I need to provide additional documents.

1. Can my passport, with all entry and exit stamps, alone prove my 10 years of continuous residency?
2. In case more evidence is needed, what is the ideal number of documents to submit for each year? Would two documents per year, one from the beginning and another from the end, be enough, or should I consider adding a document from mid-year, making it three, or is more than three documents per year recommended to substantiate my residency?

P.S. I have a Pakistani passport if it makes any difference.

There is no need to provide proof. UKVI relies on their systems and data to assess if you lived here for 10 years. Passport stamps are enough

I have completed my 10-year residency in the UK and am applying for ILR under the 10-year Long Residence route. My most recent visa was a Skilled Worker visa, and prior to that, I held different visas.

From my understanding, I only need to provide the following key documents:
- Life in the UK test certificate
- B1 English language certificate
- Previous passports
- Proof of having lawfully lived in the UK for the 10-year period

However, while filling out the application form, it has asked for additional evidence regarding my relationship with my wife and child, as well as information on whether I financially support my child. While I do provide financial support, I don’t have specific documentation, such as bank transfer receipts, to prove this.

I’m confused as to why these additional documents are being requested since I am applying under the Long Residence route, which should focus primarily on my continuous lawful residence in the UK. Is it necessary to provide these additional documents, and how will it affect my application if I cannot submit them?

Please explain if these additional requests are crucial to my application or if they are secondary to the main requirements for ILR based on 10 years of lawful residence.


Following is the actual list that they asked for:

- [ ] Documents supporting my other reasons to stay in the UK

- [ ] Evidence of Miss ***** parental relationship with *****, such as a birth or adoption certificate, proof of financial contributions to the child’s well-being or general evidence demonstrating concern and interest in the child

- [ ] Evidence of Miss ****** access to Miss *****, such as a written agreement between both parents or a child arrangement order

- [ ] Evidence you have to prove the relationship with Mr ******** (for example marriage certificates), and correspondence addressed either to you jointly, or in both of your names, or addressed individually to you at the same address, to cover the last two years

- [x] The passport issued by Pakistan for Miss *****
- [x] All previous passports, travel documents or national identity cards that you have used to travel to or remain in the UK

- [x] Current Biometric Residence Permit Miss *******

- [x] Evidence you have to prove the relationship with your child / children (for example full birth certificates)

- [x] Document(s) showing your child / children's immigration status such as passports, biometric residence cards, or vignettes

- [x] Document(s) showing Miss ******* immigration status such as a passport, biometric residence card, or vignette

Forms are generic and document lists are also generic. Those documents are NOT needed. This issue has been covered in many many other posts

Does that mean I can ignore thous required documents? Will I not get issues?

I tried to search the forum to get more information, but it wasn't pulling up. can you provide me link if possible that has compriensive information on this issue

Your application will be subjected to the immigration rules. Those documents are NOT needed under this route, again they come up as generic documents as you answer the family questions on the form. You do NOT need them.

Thank you so much, last question. do I need to provide bank statement? I havent seen anywhere asking for it. Dont want to submit it and than have issues afterwards
