ILR Application Date (earlier than eligible date)

Hello!

It's finally almost time to apply for my ILR under the skilled worker route as I qualify from November 9,24 (28 days before date of visa issue).

If I understood things correctly, I can apply now and do biometrics after November 9 and as long as on the day of the decision, I am eligible, that should be ok?

I am a bit worried about the delay in getting biometric appointments since switching to TLSContact as many people are reporting lack of appointments.

I don't know if this falls under the discretion of the case worker on which dates to consider.

The reason I want to get the appointment as early as possible after November 9 is that I am supposed to start a new job in December (so serving notice to the current employer can only be done after my ILR is approved).

My bank balance only allows me one shot at this, so if this is a risky thing to do, then I'd rather wait for the day and ask the new employer for a delayed start date, which I hope they won't refuse.

I'd really appreciate any advice, thank you!

There is nothing risky or random about benefiting from the date of the decision. It is about the immigration rules and pretty much hundreds already benefited from this.

See: Applicants can benefit from the date of the ILR decision

Thank you Zimba!

I'll apply now in that case and hope to get an appointment soon!

Best Regards,
Ashin

Just an update, I have applied and got an appointment for biometrics on the 13th of November! Although its in Belfast :)

The next available date was 25 of November, so looks like there is a severe lack of appointments within a one month window unless someone else cancels.

I had to refresh the calendar constantly for an hour before I could see the 13th pop up in Belfast (I guess someone else cancelled).

Congratulations @MasterZap. I have closely followed your ILR application and am glad it has succeeded. I applied for my ILR too on November 15, roughly 18 days before my eligibility date (03-Dec-2024).

QQ on TLS appointment: I've booked a self-service appointment. Do I have to submit the documents or leave them in upload status and then let the TLS guys submit them?

Thank you! :)

You have to submit the documents, but make sure to name the documents properly (so you can identify what you uploaded) and check everything is in there before you click submit. Once you click submit, you cannot add additional documents.

As it is a self service appointment, they won't let you add anything at the appointment. You will have to rebook another assisted service appointment.

Good luck to you mate!

Hi aczd157, I am also on similar situation with you, and I am planning to submit my application early. I am looking forward to hearing the update of your application.
