Hi,

I have an ILR since November 2022. My wife and child are going to complete their 5 year stay in Dec 2024. My wife has given the LITUK test. When I am filling the form, it asks for questions related to english language requirements. My wife is applying for ILR using this route Apply as a partner (dependant on a work visa). The webpage https://www.gov.uk/indefinite-leave-to- ... -work-visa does not list english language as a requirement to apply for ILR. I am not sure why the form is asking for these questions. Can somebody please clarify the rule regarding english language requirements for dependent applying for ILR after completing 5 years?

Information possibly relevant: I came to UK in Oct 2019 on Tier 2 Skilled Workers and switch to GTV in October 2021. My wife came to UK on Tier-2 dependent in Dec 2019 and switched to GTV dependent in July 2022.

She needs to meet the English B1 requirement. It is mandatory for ILR. She is not exempt unless from an English speaking country on the exempt list.

English B1 and LIUK is mandatory for all routes to ILR except refugee route.
