Help please on applying for ILR

Hi all,

I have posted on before a few times, but I think my ID may have been deleted, not sure.

I am applying for the ILR for my wife. She went down the 10 Year route.

She got her first 2.5 dltr visa in July 2015 (I think).
Next 2.5 visa was in September 2017.
Next 2.56 visa was in April 2020.
The fourth 2.5 visa was in Dec 2022. This said 'You have been granted permission to stay in the UK until 8 Jul 2025'

Now am I guessing that we can now apply for the ILR, obviously 28 days before, so around 11th/12th June?

Alongside this, I know we need the B1, but if we did the B2, could we use that for the British Citizenship side or will B1 work for both?

Would we also have to do the Life in the UK test as well?

Would be nice to get some help, as the first 2 times we did; we went through a solicitor and the last 2 times, we just did it ourselves.

Is there anything else we need to know as well?

Thanks

The current visa expiry is irrelevant for ILR. You need to figure out when she will complete her 10 years and then she will be eligible within 28 days of that date.

B1 is the minimum level for ILR. Anyone who was granted ILR after October 2013 does not need to prove their knowledge of English if they intend to naturalise as British, as that requirement has already been satisfied during their ILR. Passing the LIUK test is required too.

Thank you @Zimba for the information.

Her 10 years finishes on 8th July 2025, that would be 10 years, Visa wise that is.

When you say her 10 years finishes, what do you mean, how long she has been in the country?
If that's the case, than she was here a few years before that on a student visa, etc.

Thanks

If she got her initial visa in the UK, then the 10 years under the family route starts from the date her initial family/spouse visa was issued.
However, if she was here for more than 10 years, why did she not apply under the long residence instead of waiting to complete her 10 years under the family route?

Which would be from July 2015, so by July 2025, 10 years would be done?

No one told us about this, not even the solicitor I guess.

The long residence ILR is now possible, if she has completed her 10 years of lawful continuous residence in the UK.

Thanks for the heads up.

Obviously but it would be best to apply for the ILR I Would assume from June?

The family route will be a bit easier as the long residence has some specific requirements.
