Hello ,
I want to know the process of applying ILR
I have skilled worker visa, my vignette sticker was having Valid from 23/11/2020, Valid till 21/02/2021
i entered UK - Jan 2021 , My BRP expiring Nov 2025.
I got married in 2023 and my partner joined me Jan 2024 as ,my dependent.
Her BRP has same expiry as mine i.e. Nov 2025
Below clarification required.
1) When can i apply for ILR application for myself as i am completing 5 years soon in Jan 2026
2) Do i need to renew my BRP for only few months to make it 5 years ?
3) Can i apply for ILR for my dependent also along with me ? Or she has to complete 5 years stay inside UK ?
Regards
SK

1) When can i apply for ILR application for myself as i am completing 5 years soon in Jan 2026
Within 28 days before the 5th anniversary of the initial visa vignette start date. So 23/11/2025 minus 28 days.
2) Do i need to renew my BRP for only few months to make it 5 years ?
No. BRPs are no longer issued. BRP was only a card as proof of a visa.
3) Can i apply for ILR for my dependent also along with me ? Or she has to complete 5 years stay inside UK ?
No you cannot. They require 5 years residence before they can apply for ILR.

Thanks CR001. Always been helpful.
Few questions :
1) We are going to have a baby this year July 2025 inside UK , what is the process of the baby visa ? We need to apply for my country passport here inside and then what i need to do ?
2) As my wife is dependent on my visa till Nov 2025 , after my ILR application is approved what will happen to her visa ? What i need to do ?
3) I am planning to send her to my country in June for delivery , what could be challenges to send her ?

1. The baby can be granted a visa in line with the parents. The baby can also be registered as British directly when one parent settles (if born in the UK)
2. Nothing happens. The visa remains valid until expiry
3. Loss of entitlement to register the baby as British when you get ILR

Zimba thanks. Please if you can clarify.
1. The baby can be granted a visa in line with the parents. The baby can also be registered as British directly when one parent settles (if born in the UK)
Satya: Baby is going to born in July 2025(inside UK). In my previous question and as per CR001 response i can apply ILR application on 23/10/2025 approx . I am afraid that till i apply ILR and it get processed, what visa my baby will have from July2025(born month) to October2025 ?
2. Nothing happens. The visa remains valid until expiry
Satya: So i need to apply for new dependent visa after Nov 2025 ? Her BRP is till Nov 2025 as she is my dependent now.
3. Loss of entitlement to register the baby as British when you get ILR
Satya : ok thanks for letting me know zimba.

1. Babies born in the UK do not need visas at all as long as they stay in the UK. Again, any visa will be in line with your visa as a child dependent
2. She will extend as normal just before visa expiry
