Hi everyone,

I'm applying for ILR using the Set (O) form and noticed that there is no section asking for BRP details as there was previously.
I just wanted to check if this section has been removed from the application form or if I might have missed something.

Not familiar with the form you are looking at.
However, you will be aware that BRPs expired on 31 December 2024 and have / are being replaced by online eVisa.
Have you applied/activated your eVisa?
Your status will now be interogated online. So it makes sense that forms are being updated (i.e. BRP related sections).
Have you got your eVisa?

I’m seeking clarification about the travel history section of my ILR application.

In 2018, I traveled to Sweden for a short stay. My flights transited through Copenhagen, Denmark, both on the way to Sweden and on the way back. Since both Sweden and Denmark are in the Schengen Area, the immigration process and passport control were carried out in Denmark, and I didn’t receive any passport stamp from Swedish immigration. I remained in Copenhagen airport for the transit and didn’t leave the airport premises.

Given that I technically "entered" Denmark during the transit, do I need to include Denmark as a country I lived in for the travel history section, or should I only list Sweden?

I’d appreciate any advice or similar experiences. Thanks!

There's only one dictionary definition of "live" and it very different from "visit". Where you make home is where you LIVE.
Places you visited or transited through do not go on the list.

UKVI does not care about the details of your travel at all. Provide minimal information. All it matters is absences from the UK. Visiting a country also does not mean you lived there. I am not sure why this always is asked here, given how obvious it is

Just to clarify, I’m referring to the question "Have you previously lived in a country outside the UK, including your country of birth?" (and not the part about absences from the UK). The question also states "Please enter the country you have lived in. Include all countries no matter how long you lived there."

What’s confusing me is the phrase "no matter how long you lived there." Does this mean that even short visits, like attending a conference or brief transits, should be included, even though I didn’t establish a home or stay for a long time?

I don't know what is confusing about that phrase.

You don't live in the countries that you transit when travelling. The same applies to countries visited when attending conferences or for holidays or vacations. Short stays don't mean living.

Hi all,

I'm answering the question "Have you previously lived in a country outside the UK, including your country of birth?" in the ILR application. The form also states: "Please enter the country you have lived in. Include all countries no matter how long you lived there."

Here’s my situation:
- I lived in Vietnam for 35 years (my home country).
- I then moved to Japan to study and stayed there to work after graduation (a total of 7 years on a student visa and work visa).
- While studying at university in Japan, I went Australia for a 1.5 month academic internship at a university. This program was part of my studies in Japan and was financially supported by my university. I was on an Australian visitor visa during this time (but still held a Japan student visa). After completing the course in Australia, I returned to Japan to finish my studies.

So, should my answer be one of the following options?

(1) Option 1: Exclude Australia as a country I lived in
- Vietnam
- Japan

or
(2) Option 2: Include Australia as a country I lived in
- Vietnam
- Japan (as one continuous 7-year period)
- Australia

or
(3) Option 3: Include Australia as a country I lived in, but split the time in Japan into two periods
- Vietnam
- Japan (before leaving for Australia)
- Australia
- Japan (after returning from Australia)

In my previous application for my current visa, I listed Australia as one of the countries I visited in response to the question: "Have you been to any other countries in the past 10 years?" Do my answers in the ILR application and the previous application need to be consistent?

It also states: "If you have previously made an application to remain in the UK, you can find a reference number on letters from the Home Office, called 'Our Ref' or 'Case ID'. If not known, select 'No'."

Does this specifically ask for reference numbers from applications to remain in the UK (submitted while in the UK)?

The only reference number I have is from the decision letter of my current visa, which I applied for from outside of the UK. Should I use that reference number, or should I just answer 'No'?

Simply answer No.

I received my ILR, but my wife and children must wait another two years to apply for ILR as dependents under the GTV route.

My wife recently got a job in another city and plans to rent a house there exclusively for herself. She will stay at this new residence during the weekdays and return to our current home on weekends, where my children and I will continue living.

I have a few questions regarding how this arrangement might affect our ILR applications:

1) Is it still considered that we are “living together” if my wife has two addresses—one where she stays during the weekdays for work, and our family home where she returns on weekends?

2) Does living at two addresses affect the ILR application, specifically in terms of demonstrating that we are still in a genuine and subsisting relationship as partners?

3) When the application form asks for a residential address, which address should she provide—our family home, where she stays on weekends, or the weekday accommodation she rents for work?

4) Would it be better for her to rent accommodation with council tax included, so there’s no separate council tax bill in her name? Or does paying council tax at a second address not negatively affect the assessment of whether we are still in a genuine and subsisting relationship as partners?

I’d appreciate any advice or insights from anyone with similar experience. Many thanks in advance!

The rules do not care about such details, Just showing that you two share the same main accommodation is enough. You do not need to be paranoid

Just to clarify - on my wife’s application form, does she need to mention the second address she uses during the weekdays for work and provide evidence of her stay there?
Or can she just ignore that and simply provide the address we share as a family, along with the required evidence of cohabitation at our main home?
