ILR 5 Years Work permit Route - Days issue

My Skilled Worker visa application was submitted on 29 September 2022, and I applied for a full 5-year visa. However, due to processing timelines, my visa was granted on 22 November 2022 and is currently valid until 14 October 2027.

According to current ILR rules, I understand that I may apply up to 28 days before completing 5 years of continuous lawful residence, making my earliest ILR application date 27 October 2027. However, as my visa expires on 14 October 2027, I fall 13 days short of the qualifying period. As a result, I may need to apply for a short extension to meet the ILR requirement.

I would be grateful if you could advise on the following:

Whether I need to apply for a short Skilled Worker visa extension to cover the 13-day gap;

If so,

Can I apply for a 6-month extension in the same job, with the same sponsor, role, and salary?

Can this be done with my current employer's new Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)?

No.

You might be eligible for ILR on 22 November 2022 + 5 years - 28 days. The ILR application can be submitted before/by the visa expiry date (14 October 2027) and delay biometrics near/by 27 October.

Note this scenario is under the current rules. It seems there are some government proposals specifically aiming at making changes to ILR paths, including different residence requirements. :!:
