ILR for child – is SET(F) (Apply as a child – family visa) the correct form?

Hi everyone,

I’m a British citizen by naturalisation (previously on a Global Talent Visa). My wife was also on a GTV and has recently been granted ILR.

Our son’s visa is now expiring, and I’m applying for his ILR. From what I understand, the correct route is “Apply as a child (family visa)” using the SET(F) form.

However, while completing the form I’ve come across some questions that are making me doubt if I’ve chosen the right application type. For example, it asks about “Other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK” and about the “best interests of any children.”

Could anyone confirm if I am indeed completing the correct form for a child applying in line with parents who are settled (one British citizen and one ILR holder)? And are these questions standard for SET(F), or does it sound like I may have selected the wrong category?

Many thanks for your help.

Ideally, the child should have been included in your wife's ILR application. However, the form SET(F) is the correct form for the child now. Note that you do NOT need to answer 'Other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK' at all as the child normally qualifies for ILR
