Help with ILR Application - 5 days short

Hi,

I switched from an ICT visa to a Skilled Worker visa within the UK in 2021. My Skilled Worker visa has a start date of 19/05/2021 and expires on 14/05/2026, which leaves a shortfall of 5 days to complete a full 5-year period on this visa.

Should I apply for a short visa extension to cover these 5 days before applying for ILR, or can I submit my ILR application before my visa expires and rely on the automatic extension of my Skilled Worker visa until a decision is made? And If I take this approach will it lead to rejection in ILR due to not having my original skilled visa for the full term of 5 years?

I would really appreciate your advice.

Thank you.

You can apply for ilr within 28 days before the 5th anniversary of your initial visa start date. There is no requirment that you must have a visa covering 5 years.
