Hello, Good morning everyone, i have been following this website from very beginning of my first application, i always get very informative advice, i thank all of them.
From now i have a year time to apply for ILR application, i have few thing to clarify, before starting doing all paper work, im applying ILR in 5 years route with dependant son (9 year) , i have been in this country for nearly 8 year.
1 Financial requirement
How much do have to show my earnings to qualify in 5 yrs route, Flr (m) visa got approved in 2021 and extention got approved 2024,
2 the problem what i have rightnow i always showed my husband income in all my previous applications but recently he got redundant from his job,, what are the option i have now ?
3. if i go with 16000 plus saving option how does this works, Do i have to 16000 in my own Account for a year or i just need to show them that i have 16000 plus in my account before i submit my Ilr application, im applying with my dependant son , exactly how much do i have show for both application.

1. If you are applying with a child dependant, the min income required is £22,400 per year under category A or B.

2. You can either use your own income or cash savings. This is assuming he cannot get a job by the time you are applying for ILR

3. You can use a value equal or greater than (cash saving amount - £16,000) towards your ILR. In your case, the min cash saving amount is £38,400 ( £38,400 - £16,000 = £22,400 which is the min value needed for you and your child)

Savings must be held in cash in a personal bank / savings account in the name of the applicant, their partner or the couple jointly where that balance should be held for at least 6 months.

Hi, im here with another quick question , In few months time my wife and son going to apply for ILR under 5 year route, and Now my question is about financial requirement.

I. I got redundant from job in April 2025 and i started working as a self employed from may 2025 still continuing ( Uber),
feb 2026 i got another job which is salaried,
2. My wife started employment from sept 2025. Now my question is can i combine our income (my self employment + new job salaried income + my wife income) to fullfil financial requirement to apply for ILR under 5 year route. And how much do i have to show my yearly income.

You can only combine salary earned in the same period. To claim self-employment income, you must provide a self assessment which in your case will be for the tax year period of April 2025-26 (earliest to be filled next month). To combine that income with any other income, such income earned must have been earned in the same tax year period. Also, any source of income being claimed must be ongoing.

So in a nutshell, any income earned in the period April 2025-26 can be combined, assuming such sources of income are still ongoing. Note that your wife can only claim the last 6 months of that period only as per category A. The min income required is £22,400 as advised before

Thanks Zinda, what my understanding is, i can include my salary + redundancy money in april month 2025 + my Uber earning starting from may 2025 till march 2026 + new job earnings , feburary and march salary, all of the earning has to be 22400 to qualify for ILR 5 years route

If you were made redundant from a job in 2025, then that source of income is NOT still ongoing, so it CANNOT count they way you intend to combine them

Hi, zimba, i got you, suppose if i dont fulfil the ILR financial requirement then i should apply for extension of my visa which again 2 and half years leave to remain, ( 10 years route )

Now my question is, when can i apply for ILR , because i came in Uk December 2017 as per my understanding i am eligible to apply for ILR after Dec 2027 ( completing 10 year legally in the Uk)

When can I apply for ILR ?

If you do not qualify for ILR, you will not qualify for an extension under 5-year route either. You should extend via FLR(FP) under the 10 year route and settle when you have total of 10 years under the long residence

Hi everyone. I hope all are doing well.
I started doing my and son ( SET M) under 5 years route. And previous visa was on Spouse/ partner leave to remain. I hope im filling out correct application. I dont want to go to any legal advice becoz they charge too much fee so im doing on my own.

Theirs few question in the application. Im bit confuse , i need your help.

Theirs a question:
1.What is their annual income before tax for this employment in Gbp ?
I started employment from feb 2026.( 6 month payslip) do have to add all gross salary amount, my salary varies each month.
2. What do they earn
Out 4 option
I selected,,, not the same amount continuously , below the financial requirement

My partner started employment from sept 2025.(sept gross salary 1000 and oct-july gross salary 1250 pm) , only completed 11 months, , what will be the gross salary ?

The same mount continously, above the financial requirement.

You refuse to read the official guide, that is why you are confused.

For non-salaried employment, the guide tells you this:
Where the person is in non-salaried employment – the level of gross annual
employment income relied upon in the application will be the annual equivalent of the
person’s average gross monthly income from non-salaried employment in the 6
months prior to the date of application (where that employment was held throughout
that period).

To calculate this annualised average for non-salaried employment in Category A the
following calculation should be used:

(Total gross income from employment held throughout the 6-month period, divided
by 6) multiplied by 12 = Income from non-salaried employment that can be counted
towards the financial requirement.

Thanks, what my understanding is now i have met financial requirement for ilr application. , because my 6 months salary is around 1300 and if i divide by 6 (6 month salary) 2167 and then multiply by 12 that give annaull gross income.26000. So i met the financial requirement.

Secondly , As im met the financial requirement for ilr application i do need to rely on my partners income, i have dependant child with application.

Hi zimba, you are very helpful. , im submitting today or tomorrow. Online spplication for ilr with dependant child,, (set m )before that i need last cinfirmatiion. ,
I think i have not clearly explained to you.,,,, April 2025 i took redundancy, from then i have been working as self employment food delivery still continuing , on 30th jan 2026 i started a new job and currently working for the same company. , my total earnings from feb 2026 to july 2026 is around £13283 gross income.
1. Have i met the ilr financial requirement? I only worked 6 month so farI,,,have 6 month payslip ,
2. First spouse /partner leave to remain granted july 2021 and then second extension granted on feb 2024 so what is the actuall ilr financial amount i fall into , £22400 or 29000.
3. Do i need to show my self employment income which started in may 2026
4. What my understanding is , i have not completed one year on the current job, that wont be an issue.
5. I have my partner working from sept 2025 , if i satisfy ilr financial requirement , i do not want include employment income

Thanks.

Advice already given, so more advice will not help you, I am afraid.
Go and read the advice and the official guide and come back here after you have done that.

Under the category B, you need to satisfy the requirements in two parts, on the date of application:

1) Your annualised income from your current job should be above the threshold (£18,600+)
So all salary earned in your most recent job divided by the period in which it was earned, multiplied by 12 must be above (£18,600+)

AND

2) In the last 12 months, you have earned in total, at least the minimum salary needed (£18,600+). So this is total income earned in the last 12 months from all the jobs combined

Read the guide which tells you what you need to send
