Hello,

I want to share my wonderful experience at Sheffield PEO dated 09/12/09. Where I received my ILR under 5 years WP. First of all thanks to the members of this forum who assisted me to find out my answers.

I booked an appointment on 07/10/09 through telephone and since then waited anxiously. My appointment was at 1045hrs and I am requested to be there 30 mins before. So on the judgment date I started from my place early targeting to be at the PEO by 0900 hrs sharp however my hopes are dented by the heavy traffic + highly complicated Sheffield roads. Even my ever reliable tom tom sat nav behaved very strange. With huge difficulty I reached Sheffield PEO around 0955 hrs and parked my car in a near by pay parking centre which is just 50 yards from the PEO.

Luckily the climate was really good, a bit of sunny. Before entering the PEO I was kept waiting in the queue for around 15 mins, before me they are around 10 people waiting for there turn to entre into the building. At the gate I had undergone heavy security search, once searched the security guard guided me to the reception.

The guy at the reception asked my appointment booking reference code and cross checked with the list he got and gave me a token, and requested me to wait in the hall. Around 20 mins or so my number was called, where the lady verified all my documents and simultaneously filled a document and mentioned me to proceed with the payment. At the payment counter I paid £1120 (2 dependents, wife and son) through my credit card. Once the payment was processed she gave me an receipt and took all the documents / application and requested me to wait.

Around 90 mins or so my number was called and mentioned that I was given an ILR and mentioned that it will take around 30 mins for passport stamping. Around 1 hours or so my number was called where I collected my passport and checked my name is spelled correctly.

The documents I attached are as follows:

1. SET (o) application.
2. KOL in UK – both me and my wife.
3. 3 months pay slips + 5 years P60
4. letter from employer

Even though I did not include my marriage certificate and other details in the main application, however I took them for back up.

The entirel process took around 3 hours.

The home office team were very kind.

If you have any questions please drop a message I will do my best to assist you.

Congrats on getting your ILR. I have the following questions:
1) Have you taken your dependents along with you?
2) Is your application WP based for complete 5 years or WP converted to Tier2 recently?

Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hello Jenny,

It is not a mandatory to take your dependents along with you, however if you are not taking them then you need an authoriastion from them stating that you are given permission to apply for ILR (stamping on their passports).

My action is take them along with you if that is not a problem.

Regards,

Hi Raj_bond,
One more question, do we need to take utility bills to show as a proof for the spouse. Also, is there any mandatory of 2 years that, she needs to be with me? I am on Trier2 and applying for ILR soon. Please advise.
Thanks a lot for all your help.

Hello KrisRaj007,

It is always good if you take utility bills along with you.

Secondly it is must to have your marriage certificate at the time of applying. Regarding the 2 years rule for dependent visa i am not sure. it is not mentioned anywhere in the application. i belieive it will not be a problem but please confirm.

Best of luck.

my kid is only 2 yr 10 months old who is going to be my dependant as my husband is on wp ...

i think , for kids it may be ok if you dont take along with you ...

would they allow my husband to mind the kid while i am sorting out the paper work with the case worker...

Thanks

Hi Jenny,

As a parent you are ok - no need for any authorisation.

However if u are going to Sheffield you can be lucky by taking your husband along with you in the office to look after your child while you are applying / sorting out with the case worker.

As per my experience it will not be a problem.

Best of luck.

Thanks raj_bond...could i ask you one last question? Did they ask you to go through bio-metric thing(finger print bit)?..When we had extended our visa in 2006 they didnt have this ...I just wonder if they asked you to do when you were there for ILR

Thanks

Hello Jenny,

No i did not had any bio metric / fingure print checks. I beleive that if you are under work permit / HSMP then there is no need for these things. However HO is planning to change the rule from next year onwards. For this year no need.

If you have any more things to discuss then i will do my best to answer.

Regards.

Dear Raj,

Many congratulations on your ILR. I have heard a couple of good stories and experiences at Sheffield PEO.

One query Raj: When you apply for ILR in person along with your dependent (Wife), do the dependent need to present in person along with you too??

Shall be looking forward to hear from you!
